Statement (brief)
Through a multidisciplinary process, I explore the complex relationship between individuals and the objects and imagery that shape our stories, histories, and sometimes even constrain us. Fascinated by how certain behaviors, beliefs, and values are absorbed without question, my work examines the authority that objects and images hold over specific groups. Using installation, video, sound, performance, painting, and writing, I re-contextualize these objects, images, signs, and symbols to creatively challenge their authority.
